Our new website and blog page

I’m so excited about our new website! We still need to tweak some things and add our resources, so please come back in a week or two to see it more completed.

I’m hoping to blog several times a week, updating you on the latest at SSC, as well as posting some quotes, short articles, and other items that will be of interest regarding faith and ecology.

Please make a note of our Clergy Workshop, “Too Hot to Handle? Biblical Tools for Preaching in an Age of Climate Change,” scheduled for October 17. See the details on our Events page. We have two outstanding local speakers no clergy will want to miss.

I invite you to leave comments, sharing your insights and any information that might benefit congregations in their Earthcare efforts.

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite poems:

The Peace of Wild Things

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
