Chad Cooper SSC

Rev. Cooper grew up on a small farm in Butler, Missouri where his love of the natural world took root. He received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Religion from William Jewell College where he was a Hester Scholar.  During his undergraduate studies, he learned about the various faith traditions in the world including Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, and Christianity.

He then attended Central Baptist Theological Seminary where he was the Presidential Scholar.  During his Masters of Divinity course work, Rev. Cooper took classes that supported his interest in religion and the environment such as Environmental Ethics, Religion and Science, and New Testament and Animal Welfare.  Additionally he continued his interfaith studies taking such courses as Christianity and Religious Plurality.

After graduating, he began full time ministry and has worked at several churches in various positions.  One thing that Rev. Cooper emphasized in all his ministry positions is that creation is a blessing and should be cared for—especially by people of faith.  He is also a Senior Fellow with GreenFaith, an international interfaith environmental organization.

Chad and his family live on a small farm where they care for their many animal companions: three horses, several cats as well as their Doberman Pinscher, Raven. In his free time, Chad enjoys composing and playing music, hiking, gardening, and spending time with his family.
