Laudato Si’: Further Thoughts on Caring for Our Common Home

February 6, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Presented by Father Bob Hagan, S.J.

Program Description:

Using Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ encyclical on caring for the earth,  as an outline, we will look at what is happening now in our world in terms of our air, water, and soil; the rate the extinction of species; global warming and climate change; and political and economic life in the United States and internationally.  We will consider the human causes of the crisis the whole human family faces in terms of the degradation of our environment and the human agents and sectors of human activity that need to be part of a solution and the urgency of a solution.  We also will examine the biblical, theological, and spiritual sources of inspiration and motivation for Christians to be active in meeting our environmental crisis.

Father Bob Hagan, S. J., is a Jesuit Catholic priest and currently serves as a Parochial Vicar at Saint Francis Xavier Church  in Kansas City, Mo.  He will guide us in exploring Pope Francis’ call, focusing on the practical implications for our lives as together we care for our common home.   During the past year, he has given four-week seminars on Pope Francis’ Encyclical on Ecology at Village Presbyterian Church and at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church.

A copy of Laudato Si’ can be downloaded here.
