Sustainable Sanctuary Coalition is a 501(C)3 interfaith nonprofit begun in 2005 in the Kansas City area.
SSC helps congregations become powerful forces for the protection of the planet. We assist them with strategies, tools, and resources. We inform and inspire them with educational programs, speakers, and stories of hope. We work with them to bring about a healthier planet for all.
Our mission
To partner with, encourage, and assist Kansas City area congregations to preach, teach, model, and advocate for sustainable living and ecological justice for all creation.
Our philosophy
We’re all connected—to God, to each other, to all of creation—and have a God-given responsibility for the greater wellbeing of the whole. We have a spiritual, religious, and moral imperative to be good stewards of the Earth and its resources. As individuals and as communities of faith, we have a unique and important role to play in meeting the serious environmental challenges currently facing our planet.
